Yemen possesses significant deposits of limestone and non-metallic minerals, yet the industry faces challenges due to logistical constraints and extreme climatic conditions. The demand for lime oxide remains high for both infrastructure construction and the stabilization of mineral ores in local quarries.
In the agricultural sector, the prevalence of acidic soils in certain highlands has led to an increased reliance on calcium oxide used in agriculture to neutralize pH levels and improve nutrient absorption for critical crops like coffee and qat.
Currently, the manufacturing of processed lime in Yemen often relies on traditional kilns, which results in inconsistent purity. There is a growing shift toward importing standardized lime quicklime to ensure consistent chemical reactivity in industrial applications.
