Full Sized Mullite
This year one of our customers from UAE ordered 200 tons of mullite sand. The sizes of the product are 5-8mesh,10-20mesh,20-40mesh and 40-70mesh. The product has been shipped in the end of Jan.,2024.
Mullite is a crystalline silicate mineral with the chemical formula Al₆Si₂O₁₃. It is typically white or light gray, featuring high melting point (around 1,890°C), excellent thermal stability, and low thermal expansion coefficient. Formed naturally in some metamorphic rocks, it is also synthetically produced for industrial applications by fusing alumina and silica-rich materials.
Main Functions:
Refractory Industry: As a core component in refractory bricks, linings, and crucibles, mullite withstands extreme temperatures in furnaces, kilns, and steelmaking processes.
Ceramics and Glass: Used to strengthen ceramic bodies, improve mechanical properties (e.g., hardness and fracture resistance), and reduce cracking in glass-ceramic composites.
Electronics and Aerospace: In high-temperature insulation materials for electronic devices and aerospace components, ensuring stability under harsh thermal environments.
Abrasives and Coatings: Fine mullite powders serve as abrasives in polishing agents and as reinforcing fillers in high-performance coatings.
Mullite’s unique combination of heat resistance and mechanical strength makes it indispensable in industries requiring reliable high-temperature materials.
