Mika, with its glittery, flaky appearance, is another important mineral. It is used in electronics for its excellent electrical insulation properties and in cosmetics to add a shimmering effect.​

Vermikulit, which expands when heated, has applications in horticulture as a soil conditioner and in the insulation industry.
