About Kyanite powder: Kyanite is a kind of natural refractory mineral with high refractoriness and large volume expansion at high temperature. There are parallel stripes on the crystal plane. Color is light blue or cyan, bright gray and so on. It belongs to high aluminum minerals. Its chemical corrosion resistance is strong, thermal shock mechanical strength, heat expansion irreversible. It is the main raw material for the production of amorphous materials, electric furnace top brick, phosphate non-fired brick, mullite brick, low creep brick.

Process characteristics of kyanite powder:

1. Thermal expansibility: The kyanite mineral is converted into a mixture of mullite and kyanite during heating. During this transformation process, the mineral expands with volume and forms a good quartzite needle-like network with volume expansion rate of 16-18%.
2. Stability: the stability of kyanite refractories is 1.5 times higher than that of clay refractories. The loss of kyanite refractory brick is 43% lower than that of clay brick, and its life span is 150-200 furnaces longer than that of clay brick.

3. High refractoriness: general clay refractory refractoriness is 1670-1770 deG C, and the refractory of kyanite is usually greater than 1790 DEG C, the highest is greater than 1850 DEG C.
4. Irreversibility: calcination of kyanite into mullite is an irreversible transformation. It is stable below the temperature of 1810℃. Therefore, mullite refractories have the characteristics of stable volume at high temperature, low expansion rate, strong chemical corrosion resistance, high mechanical strength and strong thermal impact resistance.

Because of the characteristics of kyanite mineral, it is used to manufacture excellent high-grade refractory materials, refractory mortar, cement, casting resistant products, plastic ramming mixture, technical ceramics, spark plugs for automobile engines, insulators, ball mill balls, test vessels, earthquake resistant articles, etc.

(1) high temperature by using kyanite a permanent expansion of monolithic refractories (added directly, such as pouring material, high temperature expansion agent can be made of plastic, rubber) as long as add 5% ~ 15% can improve refractoriness under load, crushing strength of the product improvement after burning linear change index, elimination of monolithic refractories in the high temperature and the cooling process of contraction crack, Spalling and other weaknesses affecting service life # thus prolonging the lining life [6].

(2) Aluminate fibers produced from high alumina minerals of kyanite can be used to make parts for automobiles, spaceships and radar.

(3) mullite produced by calcination of kyanite can be used for high temperature furnace to prolong the furnace life of 5 ~ 6 years and save energy.

(4) adding 5% ~ 15% kyanite in high alumina cement can be made into kyanite cement, fire resistance temperature up to 1650℃, can be used in military buildings.

Kyanite minerals are mainly used in the production of refractory materials, alumina, silicon aluminum alloy and metal fibers.
